“Ring a Ring o' Roses”, also known as “Ring Around the Rosie” and “Ring a Ring o' Roise” is a kids' favorite singing game and folksong. The earliest version of the nursery rhyme was printed in 1881 but some commentators believe that a version was already being sung to the used tune in 1790. Moreover, similar rhyme was known across Europe.
Singing game – The song is used as a singing game by children, in which a group of kids forms a ring and dance in a circle around a player. All the players curtsy or stoop with final syllable and the slowest player to do becomes “Rosie” and has to stand in the center of the ring.
